Artist's Statement
A career in Design and Advertising has grounded me to think conceptually and to execute within limitations.
Similarly, design and craftsmanship using available tools and materials are important parts of my sculptural process. The combination of old world Blacksmithing and modern day design sensibility is what I'm most passionate about.
Whether it be through my primary medium of forged iron or the combination of reclaimed wood, glass or found objects…my goal is to allow people to engage in their own personal way.
My work tends to be either functional or purely aesthetic. But either, I hope, provides endless ways to evoke emotion and curiosity.
While I find this liberating, it comes with a personal sense of responsibility to create something of permanence and meaning.
